The prestigious awards were held at Google HQ in London As part of the prize,  Conor will get the opportunity to work senior Google Executivies to help develop Envirogreen Recycling even further.

Envirogreen was recently named best recycler in Ireland and has won multiple awards for its’ innovative services including polystyrene recycling and mattress recycling that dramatically increased recycling rates on both sides of the border.

The awards are being held at Riddell Hall in Belfast on the 26th January.

Looking forward to the awards, Sales Director Graham Walsh stated that “It is great to be nominated and recognised for our hard work over the last number of years for leading the way in recycling innovation”.

In its’ tenth year, Repak had supported packaging recovery in Ireland and has enabled Ireland to have one of the highest recycling rates in Europe. Repak through it’s subsidies has allowed recyclers to invest in emerging recycling technology to recover even greater amounts of packaging waste and Envirogreen thanks them for their continued support.

The minister for highly impressed at the new initiative which will save hundreds of thousands of cubic feet of landfill space by ensuring the  100% recycling of mattresses.
Speaking at the facility, Alex Attwood said:

“Companies like Envirogreen Recycling play a very important role in the development of the local recycling sector and the 12 new jobs being created is a great boost for the local economy. Envirogreen demonstrates good economic and environmental value by recovering all recyclables from their facility in Tyrone”.

Envirogreen Team Members with Minister Attwood

We uncovered and collected a lot sweet wrappers and other food packaging film that was caught up among the weeds. These types of plastics are mistaken by turtles as Jelly fish and end up killing the turtles.

In total, we had 19 people turn up on the day. Throughout the day, we collected 34 bags of litter, 3 oil barrels, 3 car tyres, 1 road sign, 1 piece of furniture and a few planks and fence posts.  A large proportion of the litter was recyclable.

It now appears Lord Sugar and his aides are now challenging the apprentices to do the same, by salavaging as much as they can when they are set the task of setting up their own “junk collection businesses”.

This weeks episode will see the trainees come be pitted against “tough cockney scrap” merchants that are playing hard ball with the teams. The teams must find the hidden gems within the waste and dispose of the remaind as cheaply as possibly.

“Lord Sugar loves this type of task and in the boardroom he picks over the results with relish. The numbers prove almost too close to call, but one team stumbles and there is nothing for it but to find someone to carry the can, then it’s – ‘You’re fired!’

Certainly one to watch on BBC One, Wednesday June 8 at 9pm.
